A true conception of Christian reality is at the heart of Catholic education. ‘An effective education rests entirely on reason, religion and goodness,’ said Don Bosco. Authentic education has as its goal the formation of the human person directed towards his final cause, God, the beginning and end of all things, but it also aims at the good formation of man for the society of which he is a member. In the educational process, there is no moment when education does not take place, there is no distinction between moments of erudition and wisdom. In the educating community , i.e. students, family, parish, teachers and other non-teaching members, each of the subjects, following the example of Our Lord, who in everything has the intention of teaching, must assume their responsibility in collaborating with the integral formation of the human being in the true concept of Christian formation. It is essential that each member of the educational community seeks a virtuous life, with the help of God's grace, so that through their lives they can educate all those with whom they live. More than listening to the words that are spoken, children should read in their lives the paths that they should follow, their actions should educate those who observe them correctly, expecting a model to follow. ‘Teach a child the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it’ (Proverbs 22:6). The mission of the various subjects of education is to co-operate with God for the perfecting of man and consequently the perfecting of society. ‘To form new men for a new society’.
